Dangote Cement speaks on truck accident that killed several persons in Benue
Dangote Group, owners of Dangote Cement, has denied reports alleging that one of its trucks was involved in a fatal accident that claimed several lives along the Wannune-Gboko Road in Tarka Local Government Area of Benue State.
The company’s spokesperson, Anthony Chiejina, made the clarification in an interview with DAILY POST on Monday.
This follows earlier reports that a truck laden with Dangote cement had rammed into a Toyota Sienna vehicle on Sunday evening, resulting in multiple fatalities.
Reacting to the claims, Chiejina stated unequivocally that the incident did not involve a truck belonging to the Dangote Group.
“The fact that a truck carried Dangote cement does not mean that it belongs to Dangote. It is for our distributors. We have searched our inventory, and there are no such trucks,” he told DAILY POST.
As of the time of filing this report, an official statement debunking the claim had yet to be released by the company.
DAILY POST notes that this incident comes in the wake of previous accidents across the country involving trucks carrying Dangote cement.
