Country singer Bailey Zimmerman is facing federal and criminal misdemeanor charges following an alleged incident at a New Mexico hotel on May 27. Prosecutors issued an arrest warrant for felony criminal damage and falsely obtaining services after his hotel room was reportedly trashed with $16,000 in damages and an unpaid alcohol tab of over $400.
Country music artist Bailey Zimmerman is currently facing federal and criminal misdemeanor charges stemming from an alleged incident at a New Mexico hotel. The news, initially reported by TMZ, has been independently verified by Billboard, indicating serious legal ramifications for the singer.
According to a court filing dated June 18, prosecutors have issued an arrest warrant against Zimmerman. These charges are directly linked to an incident that occurred on May 27. Zimmerman has been charged with a felony for criminal damage to property, with damages exceeding $1,000, and a misdemeanor for falsely obtaining services in New Mexico.
The events unfolded on a day when Zimmerman was scheduled to perform at an amphitheater located at the Sandia Resort and Casino in Albuquerque. Reports from TMZ suggest that authorities observed the singer appearing intoxicated, exhibiting hostile behavior, stumbling, and even throwing stage equipment during the soundcheck. Following this, Zimmerman reportedly left the soundcheck, returned to the resort, and subsequently canceled his scheduled performance.
At the time of the cancellation, Zimmerman posted on Instagram, stating, “Y’all know there’s nothing I love more than getting out on the road and playing these shows for you, so it’s so hard for me to have to say this, but I have to reschedule tonight’s (5/27) and Saturday’s (5/30) shows. I have not been feeling well and have tried to power through, but I am not able to give you all the show you deserve.”
TMZ further reported that the resort eventually expelled Zimmerman due to his conduct. Despite the resort providing a bus for his departure, he allegedly initially refused to leave, which led the hotel to contact the police. Zimmerman was then escorted off the property by law enforcement.
Hotel staff later discovered extensive damage to Zimmerman’s room, including the television, phone, coffee table, and two chairs. Additionally, there was damage to the walls and stains on the carpet. The total estimated cost of these damages amounted to $16,000. Furthermore, the hotel alleged that the singer charged over $400 worth of alcohol to his room tab, which remained unsettled. When the hotel was unable to contact Zimmerman or his staff to resolve the outstanding charges and damages, an arrest warrant was issued.
Billboard has reportedly reached out to Zimmerman’s representatives for comments regarding these serious allegations. Looking ahead, Zimmerman’s next scheduled performance is set for June 25 at the Country Drive Music Festival in Ashland, Nebraska. His song “Chevy Silverado” is currently holding the No. 14 position on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart.
