CIPM unveils HR academy, re-elects president
Plans are underway by the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) to launch its Human Resources (HR) Academy to equip, empower and elevate people managers across career levels.
President and Chairman of the Governing Council, CIPM, Ahmed Gobir, said this during the institute’s 56th yearly general meeting, where he was re-elected to head the institute for another two years.
He stated that from fresh entrants to C-suite executives, the academy would set a new standard for professional growth and industry relevance.
According to him, it will be a launchpad for cutting-edge learning, strategic upskilling and the evolution of HR as a transformative force in Nigeria and beyond.
On its financial statements, Gobir said the institute’s assets increased by 14.2 per cent, while current assets were up by 39 per cent.
Its operating revenue also crossed the N2 billion mark, while its surplus was N401.17 million, which is a 20 per cent year-on-year leap.
The CIPM boss attributed the feat to growth by strategy, strength, and stewardship.
He said about 2,080 new members joined the institute between September 2024 and April 2025, with about a 17 per cent increase in student registrations and a 43 per cent rise in inducted members.
For operational efficiency and digital transformation, the CIPM chief said the institute launched three cutting-edge digital platforms to ensure a credible and transparent election.
The aim, according to him, is to significantly reduce complaints, ensure seamless payments, and empower students to space their exams and complete outstanding courses at their convenience.
“These are not just tech upgrades. They are part of our broader vision to drive efficiency and responsiveness, enhance user experience, and reinforce CIPM’s position as a forward-thinking, globally aligned institute.
On members’ welfare, he hinted that the institute has launched and activated the members’ welfare scheme, a support system that delivers real impact, especially during the loss of a member.
In his remark after his re-election, Gobir expressed the CIPM’s commitment to institutional excellence, global relevance, and data-driven human resource practices.
He added that with an ambitious agenda and an expanding footprint, the CIPM continues to set the benchmark for professional excellence in people management across Nigeria and beyond.
At the meeting, Chidinma Obiejesi and Egbuonu Udogadi were re-elected as Vice President and National Treasurer, respectively.
