Cillian Murphy Returns as Tommy Shelby in Explosive First 'Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man' Trailer!

Four years after bidding farewell to the Shelby clan with its conclusion in 2022, Birmingham’s most notorious crime gang makes a scandalous return in Netflix’s official trailer for “Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man.” This highly anticipated film serves as a direct continuation of the hit crime drama series, promising a full-blown reckoning for Tommy Shelby and his family.
Cillian Murphy officially reprises his starring role as Tommy Shelby in the “Peaky Blinders” universe, a return he expressed immense satisfaction about. Murphy stated, “It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me…It is very gratifying to be re-collaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of ‘Peaky Blinders.’ This is one for the fans.” The film is set for release in select theaters on March 6, 2026, and will begin streaming globally on Netflix starting March 20, 2026.
The plot thrusts Tommy Shelby back from a self-imposed exile amidst the chaos of World War II to face his most destructive reckoning yet. With the future of the family and the country at stake, Tommy must confront his own demons and choose whether to confront his legacy or burn it all to the ground. The teaser visually delivers exactly what fans hoped for: grim industrial streets, slow-burning tension, and the unmistakable Peaky Blinders swagger, now filtered through the scale and stakes of a global war. Tommy, far from mellowed, appears more haunted, dangerous, and unpredictable than ever, posing the central question of what kind of legacy he is willing to leave behind.
The film’s cast includes several returning fan favorites and notable newcomers. Sophie Rundle reprises her role as Tommy’s sister Ada Thorne, with Stephen Graham returning as Hayden Stagg and Ned Dennehy as Charlie Strong, both allies of the Shelby family. The impressive cast also features new additions such as Rebecca Ferguson (known for her roles in Dune), Barry Keoghan (Saltburn), Tim Roth (Reservoir Dogs), and Jay Lycurgo. Packy Lee and Ian Peck are also listed among the cast. Tom Harper, who previously directed multiple episodes of the original series, helms the film, which was created by British screenwriter Steven Knight.
Beyond “The Immortal Man,” the Shelby dynasty’s story will continue with an approved sequel series to the main show. Cillian Murphy will return as an executive producer for this series, with Steven Knight once again in charge of the narrative. The synopsis for the sequel reveals a setting in Britain in 1953: “After being heavily bombed in WWII, Birmingham is building a better future out of concrete and steel. In a new era of Steven Knight’s Peaky Blinders, the race to own Birmingham’s massive reconstruction project becomes a brutal contest of mythical dimensions. This is a city of unprecedented opportunity and danger, with the Shelby family right at its blood-soaked heart.”
