Chawama By-election Showdown: All Eyes on Tomorrow's Pivotal Vote

Citizens First (CF) Party President Harry Kalaba has unveiled a bold vision for Zambia, pledging that a CF-led government would pursue universal land ownership as a cornerstone of economic empowerment. Addressing residents in Chawama on Tuesday afternoon, Kalaba argued that genuine empowerment goes beyond possessing National Registration Cards or voters’ cards, insisting that equitable access to land is essential for meaningful economic participation.

He explained that land ownership would give citizens a stable foundation to build homes, invest in their livelihoods, and secure long-term economic independence. According to Kalaba, empowering Zambians with land is a critical step toward unlocking national prosperity and ensuring that development reaches ordinary citizens rather than remaining concentrated among a few.

His remarks come just days ahead of the Chawama Constituency parliamentary by-election scheduled for Thursday. The Citizens First Party has fielded Davison Mulenga, a seasoned public servant who has previously served as Northern Province Permanent Secretary, Lusaka District Commissioner, Deputy Mayor of Lusaka City Council, and Ward Councillor for Chawama. With multiple political parties intensifying campaigns, the by-election has drawn significant attention, highlighting the strategic importance of the Chawama seat.
