Charli XCX's A24 Film 'The Moment' Expands Star-Studded Cast, Adds Alexander Skarsgård

Pop star Charli XCX's highly anticipated A24 film, titled "The Moment," has received a thrilling update with the unveiling of its star-studded cast. Charli XCX herself made the announcement on social media, using a flashy, "Brat"-esque neon light aesthetic to reveal the impressive ensemble. This news follows a recent period of increased attention on the artist, including a brief controversy involving Taylor Swift.
"The Moment" is directed by Aidan Zamiri, a frequent collaborator with Charli XCX, known for his work as a photographer and music video director for artists like Billie Eilish and Yung Lean, as well as brands like Nike and Google. The film marks Zamiri's feature directorial debut.
The extensive cast list features a blend of established and rising talents, including Kylie Jenner, Alexander Skarsgård, Rachel Sennott, Rosanna Arquette, Kate Berlant, Rish Shah, Jamie Demetriou, Arielle Dombasle, Hailey Benton Gates, Trew Mullen, Mel Ottenberg, Richard Perez, Isaac Powell, Tish Weinstock, Michael Workéyè, Shygirl, and A. G. Cook. Charli XCX, who conceived the original idea for the film, will also lead the cast in a meta role. The film's synopsis describes her character as a rising pop star navigating "the complexities of fame and industry pressure while preparing for her arena tour debut."
The script for "The Moment" was written by Aidan Zamiri and Bertie Brandes, with music composed by Charli XCX's long-time record producer, A. G. Cook. The film is set to premiere in theaters in 2026. "The Moment" also marks a significant step for Charli XCX, as it will be the inaugural project under her own production company, Studio365, which was exclusively reported by Variety in January.
Beyond her musical accomplishments, including her critically acclaimed album "Brat," Charli XCX is actively expanding her presence in the film world. She recently made her acting debut in Pete Ohs’ “Erupcja,” which garnered strong reviews, and has appeared in Julia Jackman’s “100 Nights of Hero” and Romain Gavras’ adventure comedy “Sacrifice.” Upcoming acting credits on her horizon include Daniel Goldhaber’s “Faces of Death” remake; Gregg Araki’s “I Want Your Sex” opposite Olivia Wilde, Mason Gooding, and Cooper Hoffman; and Cathy Yan’s “The Gallerist” led by Jenna Ortega, Natalie Portman, and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
