Chappell Roan's Midwest Princess Fund Raises Staggering $400K for Trans Youth!

Pop star Chappell Roan has officially launched the Midwest Princess Project, a new fund dedicated to supporting vulnerable trans youth and the broader LGBTQ+ community. The announcement was made via an Instagram post on Thursday, October 23, where Roan expressed her excitement for the initiative. The project's primary goal is to provide crucial support and resources to these communities, reflecting Roan's ongoing commitment to advocacy throughout her career.
The Midwest Princess Project has already achieved significant fundraising success, having raised over $400,000 from Roan’s recent "Visions of Damsels & Other Dangerous Things Pop-Up Shows." These funds are earmarked for donation to various organizations that are actively making a positive impact on trans youth within their respective communities. Roan emphasized a strong commitment to maximizing the impact of these donations, stating that every possible dollar, after minimal transaction fees and management costs, will go directly to the organizations most in need.
Several key organizations have already benefited from the fund, strategically chosen to align with the locations of Roan’s pop-up performances. These include the Ali Forney Center and The LGBT Center in New York; the Trans Wellness Center and TransLatin@ Coalition in Los Angeles; and The GLO Center and The Center Project in Missouri. For each of her recent pop-up shows in these cities, $1 from every ticket sold was contributed to the Midwest Princess Project, demonstrating a direct link between her performances and her philanthropic efforts.
The launch of this fund is a natural progression for Chappell Roan, who has consistently championed queer and trans rights. Notably, at Gov Ball 2024, she publicly declined an invitation to perform at the White House’s Pride Month festivities, stating her desire for "liberty, freedom and justice for all," which she clarified included "freedom in trans rights." In 2023, Roan also penned a heartfelt love letter to the LGBTQ+ community for Billboard, where she expressed profound gratitude, writing, "Thank God I’m gay' is a sentence I thought I’d never say, but it’s true. Thank God I love women. Thank God you taught me to accept myself, inspired me to dress loud and dance the way I have dreamt of since I was nine."
