Gauteng

Mpumalanga

Cloudy to partly cloudy and cool to warm, with morning fog patches over the escarpment and over the Highveld. Widespread to isolated showers and thundershowers are expected, scattered in the western Highveld.

Mpumalanga is the second smallest of South Africa’s nine provinces, with an area of 76 495 square kilometres. Limpopo

Cloudy to partly cloudy and cool to warm, with scattered to isolated showers and thundershowers, becoming widespread in the east.

Limpopo is the fifth largest of South Africa’s nine provinces, with an area of 125 754 square kilometres. It is the fifth most populous, with an estimated 5.9 million inhabitants as per the most recent census in 2020. The capital and largest city in the province is Polokwane, which is situated at 23°54′00″S 29°27′00″E.

North West

Northern Cape

Mostly fine in the extreme west with morning fog along the coast. Otherwise partly cloudy and warm to very hot, with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers, especially in the extreme east. The wind along the coast will be moderate to strong southerly to south-easterly.

Isolated showers and thundershowers are possible in the east. The wind along the coast will be moderate to strong southerly to south-easterly, becoming strong to near gale force along the south-west coast, with moderate to fresh easterly along the south coast. A 30% chance of light rain is expected along the western coast. The wind along the western coast will be moderate to fresh easterly. The Eastern half will be cloudy to partly cloudy and cool to warm, with scattered thundershowers, isolated in the south-west and scattered over the north-east. The wind along the eastern coast will be moderate to fresh easterly to south-easterly, becoming fresh to strong north-easterly in the afternoon.

The Eastern Cape is the second largest of South Africa’s nine provinces at 168 966 square kilometres. It is the fourth biggest in terms of population, with an estimated 6.7 million inhabitants as per the most recent census in 2020. Its capital is Bhisho, which is situated at 32°50′58″S 27°26′17″E.

KwaZulu-Natal

Morning fog is expected over the southern interior, otherwise cloudy to partly cloudy and cool to warm. Widespread to isolated showers and thundershowers are anticipated, scattered in the west and north-east. The wind along the coast will be light and variable in the south until late morning, otherwise light to moderate easterly to north-easterly, freshening in the extreme south. The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Moderate to Low.

KwaZulu-Natal is the seventh largest of South Africa’s nine provinces, with an area of 94 361 square kilometres. It is the second most populous, with an estimated 11.5 million inhabitants as per the most recent census in 2020. The capital city is Pietermaritzburg, which is situated at 29°37′S 30°23′E.

Weather Alerts and Warnings

Impact-Based Warnings: A Yellow Level 4 Warning for severe thunderstorms is in effect over the western interior of KwaZulu-Natal, bringing heavy downpours, flooding, excessive lightning, damaging winds, and large hail. A Yellow Level 2 Warning for severe thunderstorms, leading to localised flooding, lightning, damaging winds, and large hail, is expected in the extreme eastern parts of the Northern Cape, Free State (except in the north), western and central North West, and in places over KwaZulu-Natal (except in the western interior). A Yellow Level 2 Warning for Damaging Winds is expected over the Cape Metropole and between Lamberts Bay and Plettenberg Bay, potentially causing difficulty in navigation at sea and localised damage to temporary structures.

Fire Danger Warnings: Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the Nama Khoi municipality and western parts of the Northern Cape, and parts of the West Coast district and north-western Western Cape.
