The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) officially confirmed the fire, identifying the old terminal as the location of the incident.

Henry Agbebire, FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, stated that emergency response teams were quickly mobilized to contain the fire.

He emphasized that, as of the latest updates, no casualties have been reported.

FAAN’s fire and rescue officials continue to work intensively to bring the blaze under control and minimize damage to critical airport infrastructure.

The fire has had significant operational impacts.

Inbound flights to Lagos have been delayed, and some aircraft already en route may need to remain airborne until clearance is given.

One Lagos-bound flight from London was diverted to Abuja due to the disruption.

Authorities have reassured the public that safety remains a top priority, urging passengers and airport users to remain calm as officials work to extinguish the fire and assess the damage. Further updates are expected as the situation develops.
