President of the Cycling Federation of Nigeria (CFN), Giandomenico Massari, has praised the Nigerian cycling team for their remarkable showing at the 2025 Confederation of African Cycling (CAC) Para-Cycling Track Championships.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja, Massari revealed that the team clinched a total of 17 medals — nine gold, six silver, and two bronze.
He also commended their strong performance at the recently concluded African Continental Track Championships in Cairo, Egypt, calling their results a clear indicator of Nigeria’s rising competitiveness on the continental stage.
“This success not only showcases the athletes’ cycling talent but also points to their potential on the global scene,” Massari said.
Highlighting the importance of the achievement, he noted that it aligns with the objectives of the African Cycling Confederation and the International Cycling Union (UCI) to expand the sport across the continent.
In the B Class Tandem events, Nigeria secured six gold medals — evenly split between the men’s and women’s categories.
In Track Cycling, standout results included gold in women’s junior sprints and keirin, as well as multiple silver and bronze medals across team and individual events.
Massari expressed confidence that the team’s success would further elevate Nigeria’s status in African cycling.
