Cena vs. Lesnar: WWE WrestlePalooza Gears Up for Epic Farewell Showdown!

WWE is poised to launch its newest premium live event, Wrestlepalooza, on Saturday, September 20, promising an evening filled with action and drama for fans worldwide. This inaugural event will be available to stream live on Netflix in the UK and Ireland starting at 11:30 PM BST, marking a significant milestone for regional viewers and the revival of the original ECW series legacy under the WWE banner, which ran from 1995 to 2000. The spectacle will unfold at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana, featuring a stacked card of headline-grabbing matches.

The main event features an Undisputed WWE Championship clash, as Cody Rhodes defends his title against Drew McIntyre. Their rivalry has escalated intensely, particularly after McIntyre incapacitated Rhodes with a brutal Claymore through the announce table. Rhodes made a dramatic return on SmackDown, interrupting a post-match assault and subsequently issuing a championship challenge, setting the stage for a fiery showdown between two of WWE’s premier stars.

In a highly anticipated encounter, John Cena and Brock Lesnar will face each other for the first time since 2014. This match is a pivotal part of Cena’s ongoing farewell tour. Lesnar’s unexpected return earlier in the year, marked by attacks at SummerSlam and on SmackDown, has significantly intensified this rivalry, making it a must-watch final chapter for both legendary superstars.

Wrestlepalooza will also host a high-profile mixed tag-team match, pitting AJ Lee and CM Punk against Seth “Freakin” Rollins and Becky Lynch. Tensions between these teams have been building over recent weeks, including Rollins cashing in his Money In The Bank briefcase on Punk to claim the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Further adding intrigue, AJ Lee made her return to SmackDown after a decade, directly attacking Lynch, which has fueled the animosity for this bout.

The vacant WWE Women’s World Championship will be on the line, contested between IYO Sky and Stephanie Vaquer. The title became available following Naomi’s announcement of her pregnancy. Stephanie Vaquer secured her spot in the championship match by winning a Battle Royal at Evolution, while IYO Sky had previously been scheduled to challenge Naomi before the title was vacated, ensuring a competitive and compelling championship encounter.

Fans can also look forward to The Usos, Jey and Jimmy, reuniting to take on The Vision, comprised of Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed. This duo has caused considerable chaos alongside WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, notably injuring Roman Reigns on Monday Night Raw. WWE General Manager Adam Pearce has officially sanctioned this tag-team bout, promising high drama and explosive action.

Beyond Wrestlepalooza, UK and Ireland viewers can catch the final Friday Night SmackDown before the event live on Netflix at 1:00 AM BST on Saturday, September 20. The first Monday Night Raw following Wrestlepalooza will also be available for streaming on Netflix at midnight on Monday, September 22, at no additional cost. Looking ahead to the new year, WWE is bringing its Road to Royal Rumble tour to the UK, with events scheduled in Glasgow, Newcastle, London, Nottingham, and Belfast from January 10 to 19. This tour will feature top stars such as Cody Rhodes, Seth Rollins, Tiffany Stratton, Jey Uso, Rhea Ripley, Jade Cargill, Drew McIntyre, Bianca Belair, GUNTHER, and many more, with pre-sale information available for eager fans to secure tickets.
