Cardi B Gets Real: Apologizes to Fans Over Album Sales Amidst Soaring Rent

During a recent Instagram Live session, global music sensation Cardi B candidly shared her frustrations regarding the soaring cost of living, particularly focusing on the exorbitant rental prices in New York City. The artist recounted her attempt to assist a friend in securing an apartment, initially suggesting her hometown of the Bronx under the assumption that it would offer more affordable housing options.
However, her online research on platforms like StreetEasy quickly revealed a shocking reality: rents in the Bronx have also skyrocketed. Expressing her disbelief, Cardi B questioned, “Yo, why rent for them is so expensive? How the f—k is rent so expensive in the most f—kin’ cheapest borough?” This stark discovery led her to apologize to her fanbase, acknowledging the severe economic challenges many are facing. “I don’t know how people are surviving,” she stated. “I am so sorry for asking y’all to buy my album and this is how the economy is right now, that the rent is so f—king high and crazy in the Bronx, no matter where. I am so sorry.”
The Bronx native then extended her criticism towards President Trump and his administration’s perceived inaction on America’s cost of living crisis. She lamented the lack of support for specific demographics, noting, “I hate the fact that I know if you was to say something to the Trump administration about the cost of living right now, they’ll be like, ‘Yeah, suck it up,'”. She further highlighted her long-standing discontent with the system that often leaves single individuals, students, and those working nine-to-five jobs without government assistance simply because they are employed. “I don’t like that there’s a lot of single people, there’s a lot of students, there’s a lot of people that are working nine-to-five and because they’re working they don’t get no help from the government. I always hated that,” she added.
In a separate segment of the same Instagram Live, Cardi B also touched upon her professional decisions, revealing that she had contemplated creating an Instagram video for her BIA diss record titled “Pretty & Petty.” Ultimately, she decided against it, explaining that she did not wish to come across as a “bully.”
