…. Nigeria Has Lost A Figure Too Difficult To Replace – Sani

… He Made Remarkable Contributions To Nigeria’s Political Firmament – Udeze

LAGOS – The Kogi State Government has mourned the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, saying that his demise is a monumental loss not only to Nigeria but to the African continent and the world.

Governor Usman Ododo had in a condolence message signed by Kingsley Femi Fanwo,

Honourable Commissioner for Information and Communications, noted that the former President Buhari was a leader of quiet strength, deep convictions, and a patriotic heart wholly committed to the unity, progress, and stability of Nigeria.

Speaking further, Governor Ododo, described the news of Buhari’s passing as “a moment of national grief and a reminder of the enduring legacy of discipline, integrity and sacrifice that President Buhari stood for.”

According to the Governor, “President Buhari was a man who came at different times in our national history to steer the ship of state with a deep sense of responsibility. He was not a man of many words, but one whose actions consistently reflected his belief in a better, safer, and more self-reliant Nigeria.”

“Kogi State will remember him for his commitment to critical infrastructure, national security, and his consistent stand against corruption. His efforts laid a solid foundation upon which successive administrations, including ours in Kogi, continue to build.

“We stand in solidarity with the Government and people of Katsina State, the family of the late statesman, and indeed all Nigerians, as we mourn a patriot who gave his all in service to the nation.”

On his part, the national chairman of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Yabagi Sani in his tribute, told Daily Independent that Nigeria has lost a figure that perhaps would be very difficult to replace.

He said, “The country has lost a figure that perhaps would be very difficult to replace and a president that really made his mark. In the area of anti-corruption, he stood out. And if you look at his efforts at repositioning the economy of the country, as an individual he showed an unparalleled passion.

“But unfortunately some of the lieutenants were not as committed as perhaps he had thought when he appointed them. And like I said, he gave his all, especially when he was the military head of state, even before then. And he showed that really this country can become great if we can be committed, we can be straightforward in the way we handle the matters of the state.

“He was one individual that was not swayed by perks of the office or anything that has to do with flamboyance. He left a mark that may be difficult for us to match in terms of his anti-corruption perspective.”

Chief Ken Udeze, national chairman of Action Alliance (AA) has said that the former President has made remarkable contributions to the political firmament of Nigeria.

Udeze in a chat with Daily Independent said that the history book of the future of Nigeria will remain incomplete without the mention of Buhari.

He said, “His contribution to Nigerian political firmament was something that most politicians, civilians or otherwise, do not have in their kitty. A man who can comfortably boast of more than 5 million votes from his zone, any day, any time, in his kitty. You can see how fanatical his people are.

“His activities, both as a military officer, from the military to become a civilian president, is one that history will always remember. The only thing I have to say as a national chairman of my party, is that God will give the family and the people of Katsina and Nigeria the fortitude to bear the loss. No matter how good or how bad a human being is, death is always an end that everybody has to be sorry about.

“He has come, he has seen, he has paid his dues and he has left the scene. This will also go a long way to tell human beings and the people that are in position of authority, inasmuch as power is transient, they should also remember the last day. Whatever the position you occupy, be the president to any level, no matter the institution you work or company you work, and maybe you’re at the helm of affairs, always remember that one day, the word death will always come.

“So, whatever thing you do, always do things for the common good of humanity.

“So I want to sympathize with his loved ones, commiserate with them, and tell other politicians to always have the milk of human kindness. Do everything humanly possible to avoid violence or extremism in areas of religion, in areas of ethnicity, and what have you. And the history book of the future of Nigeria will remain incomplete without the mention of his name.”
