'Buhari's Administration Was Catastrophe, Yet Tinubu's Government Is Bigger Disaster' - Sowore | Sahara Reporters
In a post on his Facebook, Sowore expressed deep concern over the worsening economic conditions, rampant insecurity, bad governance and incompetence that have characterized the current administration just over a year into Tinubu’s presidency.
Human rights activist and former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has described President Bola Tinubu’s administration as a "bigger disaster" than the previous government of late former President Muhammadu Buhari, which he called a "catastrophe."
In a post on his Facebook, Sowore expressed deep concern over the worsening economic conditions, rampant insecurity, bad governance and incompetence that have characterized the current administration just over a year into Tinubu’s presidency.
“Buhari's presidency was a catastrophe,” Sowore said.
“However, Tinubu's current administration is an even bigger disaster.”
Sowore, the convener of #RevolutionNow movement, accused the Tinubu government of deepening the suffering of ordinary Nigerians through harsh economic policies, including the removal of fuel subsidies and the floating of the naira, which had led to skyrocketing inflation and unprecedented poverty levels.
According to him, Tinubu’s government is not only incompetent, it is also completely detached from the realities of the Nigerian people.
He said Tinubu removed subsidies without any social protection in place, leading to food and transport prices more than tripling in some areas, while naira is collapsing, and corruption is thriving.
His comments come amid growing public discontent over the rising cost of living, worsening power supply, and continued security challenges across the country.
Banditry, kidnapping, and insurgency persist in several regions, while many Nigerians say the promised economic reforms have brought only hardship.
Sowore also criticised the recycling of political elites in Tinubu’s cabinet, calling it a reward system for cronies rather than a merit-based effort to fix Nigeria.
According to the activist, what Nigerians have under Tinubu is not governance but an elite settlement scheme.
He noted that the same people who ruined Nigeria in the past are now being empowered again, and the outcome is predictable, failure.
This is not the first time Sowore has been vocal against successive Nigerian governments.
During the Buhari era, he was arrested and detained by the Department of State Services (DSS) over his call for a nationwide #RevolutionNow protest in 2019.
Despite ongoing legal battles, he has remained an unrelenting critic of the ruling class.
With the 2027 general election on the horizon, observers believe Sowore is positioning himself and his party as a radical alternative to the country’s traditional political establishment.
He noted that unless Nigerians rise up to demand real change, the suffering will only deepen.
He stressed that Nigerians need a government that works for the people, not one that exploits them.
