Brynton Lemar Signs with Besiktas in Turkey
Besiktas Fibabanka Istanbul of the Turkish BSL has significantly bolstered their roster for the 2025-26 season with the acquisition of Brynton Lemar, a 30-year-old American shooting guard who also holds a Jamaican passport. Standing at 193cm, Lemar (who played college basketball at UC Davis) brings a wealth of experience and a strong offensive game to the Turkish club.
Lemar's most recent stint was with Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana in the Slovenian Liga Nova KBM, where he demonstrated remarkable versatility by playing in three different competitions during the last season. In 7 Liga Nova KBM games, he averaged 10.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.4 assists, contributing to his team's league title and Supercup victory. His performance extended to the ABA League, where he averaged 14.4 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.1 steals over 25 games. Furthermore, in 14 Eurocup games, he maintained impressive statistics of 14.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.0 steals, helping his team reach the quarterfinals. His standout play in the Eurocup and ABA League earned him a selection to the Eurobasket.com Adriatic League All-Imports Team in 2025.
Prior to his time with Cedevita Olimpija, Lemar played for Hapoel Jerusalem in the Israeli Winner League during the 2023-24 season. In 13 games there, he recorded averages of 11.2 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.2 assists. He also participated in 12 Basketball Champions League games, where he averaged 7.4 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.5 assists. His extensive professional career includes stops in numerous countries such as France (Le Mans, Calvados, and Sluc Nancy), Greece (AEK Betsson), Hungary (Sopron KC), Italy (Reggio Emilia), Poland (Start), Russia (Enisey), and previously in Turkey with Gaziantep. A graduate of the University of California - Davis in 2017, the upcoming 2025-26 season will mark his ninth year in professional basketball.
The Besiktas Fibabanka Istanbul roster for the 2025-26 season, under the guidance of Coach Dusan Alimpijevic, is shaping up strongly with Lemar's addition. The guard lineup includes Berk Ugurlu, Yigit Arslan, Brynton Lemar, Jonah Mathews, and Devon Dotson. The forward positions are covered by Anthony Brown, Conor Morgan, Vitto Brown, and Kerem Konan, with Ante Zizic anchoring the center position.
