Bruno Mars' 'The Romantic' Soars to #1 on Billboard 200!

Bruno Mars notches his second No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart, and first in more than a decade, as The Romantic debuts atop the tally (dated March 14).

The set launches with 186,000 equivalent album units earned in the United States in the week ending March 5, according to Luminate via Billboard.

The singer’s fourth offering enters the Billboard 200 with 186,000 equivalent album units.

He previously reached No. 1 with “Unorthodox Jukebox” in 2013, when it took three months to climb to the summit.

Over the past week, some users on social media were surprised to learn that his last solo album, 2016’s “24K Magic,” only peaked at No. 2 as Metallica’s “Hardwired… to Self-Destruct” blocked it from the top of the chart.

“An Evening with Silk Sonic,” his 2021 release as one-half of Silk Sonic, topped out at No. 2.

Bruno Mars has ended a nearly 13-year wait between No. 1 albums, the longest gap for any living solo male artist since Paul McCartney in 2018.

His new album, The Romantic, debuted at No. 1 with 186,000 equivalent album units.

Of that, 93,500 came from traditional album sales, earning it the top spot on Top Album Sales, while streaming added 90,500 units, fueled by 93.95 million on-demand streams.

This is Mars’ biggest streaming week ever and securing No. 1 on Top Streaming Albums.

The remaining 2,000 units came from track sales.

The album’s first-week success was boosted by its wide availability: 10 vinyl variants, a standard CD, cassette, and digital download.

Vinyl alone accounted for 48,000 units, Mars’ best vinyl week yet. All formats include the same nine tracks.

Leading the album, the single “I Just Might” became Mars’ 10th Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 and his first to debut at the top on the Jan. 24 chart.

Beyond Bruno Mars’ strong showing, several other albums made waves in the Billboard 200 top 10 this week.

Gorillaz landed their sixth top 10 album with The Mountain, debuting at No. 7 with 53,000 equivalent album units, 38,000 from album sales and 15,000 from streams (15.86 million).

The album’s launch was boosted by nine vinyl editions, multiple CDs and cassettes, and digital downloads.

This follows previous top 10 entries like Cracker Island (No. 3, 2023) and Demon Days (No. 6, 2005).

BLACKPINK returned to the Billboard 200 with DEADLINE, debuting at No. 8 and earning 52,000 equivalent units.
