Bruins Uniform Release Features Michael J. Fox and Charlie McAvoy

The Boston Bruins have unveiled a significant uniform redesign for the upcoming 2025-26 season, embracing a nostalgic yet forward-looking theme dubbed “Back to the Future.” This refreshed look features a modernized interpretation of the classic spoked-B logos as the crest on both their primary home and away uniforms. The team emphasized that the new designs are a contemporary take on a timeless aesthetic, incorporating new logos on the shoulders, updated striping on the sweaters and socks, and additional details on the gloves and pants. Notably, the thickness of the striking for the new logos harks back to the uniform styles prevalent in the 1980s and 1990s, blending historical elements with a fresh appeal.
To introduce these new uniforms, the Bruins collaborated with iconic actor Michael J. Fox, renowned for his role in the 'Back to the Future' film series, in a unique promotional video. In the video, Fox engages in a conversation with Bruins president Cam Neely, with whom he shares a long-standing friendship. Fox expresses his admiration for Neely’s old sweater from a past video, suggesting a return to classic designs. Neely, however, responds with a vision for the future, leading to a clever reveal. He instructs, “Send in 73,” referring to defenseman Charlie McAvoy’s uniform number.
Following Neely’s cue, a theatrical sequence unfolds with lights and smoke, culminating in McAvoy’s entrance, costumed as an elderly version of himself, complete with a cane, facial prosthetics, and makeup, embodying a character from the future. McAvoy presents Fox with a new uniform, declaring it “Boston built, powered by tradition,” a tagline that resonates with the team’s heritage. Fox enthusiastically approves of the design, solidifying the marketing campaign’s success.
This uniform launch comes at a pivotal time for the Boston Bruins. The team recently introduced Marco Sturm as their new head coach, following a disappointing season. Fans are hopeful that the new uniforms will coincide with improved on-ice performance. The Bruins also hold the No. 7 pick in the upcoming NHL Draft, signaling a period of potential rebuilding and strategic changes. Merchandise featuring the new logos will be available for fans to purchase online and in person at TD Garden.
