Bruce Willis' Final Role A Streaming Hit, Dominating Charts

In the wake of Hollywood legend Bruce Willis's illness-induced retirement three years prior, a renewed appreciation for his vast and celebrated filmography has emerged. Among his iconic works like Die Hard, The Sixth Sense, and Pulp Fiction, certain films have remained under the radar, yet deserve greater recognition. Poignantly, one such film, and reportedly one of the final performances in Willis's illustrious career, is now garnering significant attention on streaming platforms.

The 2022 action thriller, Gasoline Alley, has climbed into the top ten most-streamed movies on Paramount+ in the U.S. Directed by Edward John Drake and co-written by Drake and Tom Sierchio, the film, released on February 25, 2022, and running for 97 minutes, was designed as a straightforward popcorn flick packed with action. It stars Bruce Willis as Detective Freeman, Luke Wilson as Detective Vargas, and Canadian actor Devon Sawa as Jimmy Jayne, with Kat Foster also featuring as Christine. Its genres include Action, Thriller, Crime, and Mystery.

The synopsis for Gasoline Alley details a chilling story of a savage Hollywood murder set in present-day Los Angeles. Jimmy Jayne, a reformed ex-con, becomes the prime suspect. Determined to prove his innocence, Jimmy embarks on his own investigation, venturing into the dark underbelly of L.A. while homicide detectives Freeman and Vargas remain hot on his trail.

While Gasoline Alley has found success with audiences, its critical reception was notably divided. On the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, audiences awarded the movie a strong 78%, contrasting sharply with a damning critics' score of 22%. The critical consensus described the film as "A muddled, filler-grade mess, Gasoline Alley wastes its capable cast on a story that lacks the proper narrative fuel it desperately needs." Despite this, its current popularity on Paramount+ demonstrates a strong viewer engagement.

Gasoline Alley joins an array of other compelling titles currently featured in the Paramount+ streaming charts, including beloved classics like Planes, Trains and Automobiles, blockbuster hits such as Tom Cruise's Top Gun: Maverick and American Made, and Liam Neeson's comedic reboot of The Naked Gun. For those who missed Gasoline Alley upon its initial release, its accessibility on Paramount+ now offers a prime opportunity to experience this action-packed feature.
