Brad Pitt's Candid Confession: Actor Opens Up About Brutal Alcoholism Battle

Hollywood star Brad Pitthas candidly revealed his challenging battle with alcoholism and the profound steps he took to achieve sobriety. Speaking on the Armchair Expertpodcast, the 61-year-old Oscar winner, known for films such as Bullet Train and Oceans Eleven, shared his arduous journey to stop drinking, admitting he was “pretty much on my knees” and desperately seeking help from anyone he knew. He described this period as a “difficult time” requiring a complete “rebooting.”
Despite initial nerves and his generally shy nature in new situations, Pitt made the crucial decision to join Alcoholics Anonymous (AA).He recounted how he quickly embraced the program, finding it to be something he would look forward to. A friend's assurance that AA was a “safe place” helped him overcome his discomfort and open up. Pitt emphasized his willingness to take responsibility for his past missteps, stating, “I am a stubborn f--k, but when I've stepped in s--t, I'm pretty good at taking responsibility for it and owning up to it.” He found the AA meetings to be a truly special experience, filled with “incredible men sharing their experiences, their foibles, their missteps, their wants, their aches, and a lot of humour.”

Pitt had previously discussed his journey to sobriety following his 2016 divorce from Angelina Jolie. In a 2019 interview with the New York Times,he disclosed that the divorce served as a crucial wake-up call, prompting him to “remove his drinking privileges.” He echoed his sentiments about AA in that interview, highlighting it as a “safe space where there was little judgment, and therefore little judgment of yourself.”
In his personal life, Pitt, having finalized his divorce from Jolie, is currently dating Ines de Ramon, 32. However, reports indicate that his relationships with most of his six children with Angelina Jolieremain strained. Sources reveal that despite “several efforts to reconnect,” he is only able to regularly spend time with the 16-year-old twins, Knox and Vivienne, as they are still minors subject to his and Angelina’s custody agreement. His relationships with his older children – Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, and Shiloh, 19 – are said to be significantly strained.
