Plasnomic, a plastic repair standards and certification company, has named Boyd Group’s Mario Dimovski as head of its Global Plastic Repair Alliance Council.

The council is a coalition of industry leaders dedicated to advancing and supporting the implementation of the highest global standards for plastic repair practices, tools, and processes across the collision repair industry, according to a press release. Members include senior leaders and technical experts from 3M, PPG, Polyvance, Mirka, Auto Recycling Association, AkzoNobel, Caliber Collision, SEM, and others.

“Mario’s leadership, vision, and global perspective make him uniquely qualified to guide this council,” said Brian Driehorst, CEO of Plasnomic, in the release. “He has been instrumental in shaping the future of plastic repairs.”

Dimovski is Boyd Group’s circular repair and innovation director. He has directly repaired and overseen more than 1 million plastic part repairs throughout his career, the release says.

“His technical hands-on skills and depth of experience are unmatched in the industry, firmly placing him in a league of his own,” said Driehorst. “His appointment, unanimously supported by council members, marks a defining moment in the evolution of plastic repair
standards.”

Dimovski told Repairer Driven News that as vehicle technology and materials continue to evolve, the collision repair industry faces inconsistent processes, limited shared knowledge, and unclear guidance on proper tools and materials with automotive plastic repair.

“Most shops are doing their best with the resources and skill levels their technicians have, but approaches vary widely, leading to inconsistent outcomes in what is deemed repairable, as well as in repair quality, safety, and cost,” he said. “While a lot of great work is being done, it’s often confined to isolated pockets or silos across the world.

“Our goal is to unify the industry with an OEM-supported repair process and approved tools. By working with local partners, like I-CAR, to deliver hands-on training, we aim to eliminate guesswork, build technician confidence, and improve results, while cutting waste and supporting sustainability.”

In the press release, Dimovski said he’s deeply honored to take on the new role.

“This moment represents far more than a personal achievement; it’s a turning point for the industry,” he said.

He added that the industry has a unique opportunity to bring alignment to a fragmented space and champion repair-first plastic solutions.

“By working together, we can establish plastic repair as a trusted, standardized discipline and fast-track the adoption of best practices across both collision repair and the broader circular parts ecosystem,” he said.

Dimovski began his career at the age of 16 as an automotive plastic repair apprentice. Over the past 30 years, he has led innovation as an employee, business owner, board member, and IBIS global ambassador, the release says. It adds that Dimovski’s leadership has helped set a higher standard for filler-free processes, driven the development of proprietary tools, and led to the formulation of compatible materials for improved repair outcomes.

On LinkedIn, Dimovski shared his astonishment that a 16-year-old plastic repair apprentice would one day lead a global movement when 34 years ago, plastic repair wasn’t viewed as a career but a dead-end job.

Driehorst said Dimovski’s contributions have significantly expanded the definition of “repairability” and influenced how collision centers approach plastic repair, reshaping implementation strategies across multiple continents.

Dimovski also shares his insights in a monthly “Collision Intelligence” column published by Body Shop News UK.

“This unique blend of hands-on technical expertise, industry vision, and boardroom drive makes him the ideal catalyst for transformative change,” said Driehorst. “Mario has elevated plastic repair into a global movement driven by collaboration to redefine the future of repair and sustainability.”

According to the release, the Plastic Repair Alliance Council plays a vital role in supporting a multi-layered approach to communication, education, and curriculum development that elevates quality, safety, and operational efficiency.

Under Dimovski’s leadership, the council plans to formalize its operational framework, expand its global reach, and strengthen strategic partnerships with collision networks, plastic repair specialists, OEMs, training bodies, and supply chain leaders.

Through its expanding global network, Plasnomic is forging strategic alliances with leading MSOs and manufacturers to advance globally recognized certification programs, approved tools, and unified best practices in plastic repair across the globe, the release says.
