Boxing King Usyk Unleashes New Promo Empire, Eyes Kyiv Tournament!
Unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk has officially relaunched his promotional company, "Usyk17," which initially began operations in 2020 but was forced to cease activity following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022. With a renewed focus and strategic plans, Usyk and his team are now gearing up to host a significant boxing tournament in Kyiv, Ukraine, this spring.
The primary objective of the relaunched "Usyk17" group is to cultivate and support the next generation of Ukrainian boxing talent. Usyk emphasized this mission, stating, "Usyk17 is back. This spring in Kyiv, we want to host a big tournament, we'll announce it at a later date. Exclusively, these fighters will be young promising boxers from Ukraine and we'll help these guys reach their goals. Everything that depends on us, we'll do for the growth of new champions in our country."
Usyk shared his philosophy on success, asserting that "Champions are formed long before titles. The path matters more than quick success." He highlighted the invaluable experience gained by his team on his own journey to championship belts, which they are now prepared to impart to the new generation of athletes. Beyond his boxing endeavors, Usyk has been a staunch advocate for his country since the invasion, with his Usyk Foundation actively supporting the army and his personal involvement alongside fellow boxer Vasiliy Lomachenko in a territorial defense battalion.
The renewed "Usyk17 Promotions" aims to revolutionize the traditional boxing model by not only organizing fights but also by developing athletes as comprehensive personalities and long-term brands. Designed as a digital-first platform, the company will prioritize storytelling, media presence, and strategic career development as its core competitive advantages. Initially, the promotion will concentrate on nurturing Ukrainian fighters, preparing them to uphold Usyk's esteemed legacy and emerge as the next Ukrainian stars on the global boxing stage.
Excitement builds as the first major signings for Usyk17 Promotions, along with the detailed announcements of its inaugural events, are anticipated to be revealed later in February, marking a new chapter for Ukrainian boxing and athlete development.
