Released in 2015 and 2017, respectively, maverick director Rajamouli’s Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali: The Conclusion, starring Prabhas, Anushka Shetty, and Rana Daggubati in lead roles, went on to redefine Indian cinema. While Baahubali 1 grossed over Rs 650 crore, Baahubali 2 amassed a whopping Rs 1,810 crore. With over Rs 2,460 crore gross, the Baahubali franchise continues to be the highest-grossing Indian movie franchise of all time.

And here’s an interesting update. With most of the recently released re-releases doing a solid business at the global box office, the makers of the Baahubali franchise are said to be planning to re-release Baahubali 1 & 2 in cinemas worldwide in October. In an exciting twist, the makers are in plans to piece together all the important scenes in both the parts into a single movie and release it in cinemas. Needless to say, this sets a new trend, and more franchise movies are expected to follow it in the future.

Baahubali 1 & 2 showcased the might of Telugu filmmaking and its impeccable box office pull. In fact, movie lovers and analysts describe Indian cinema as before and after Baahubali. The film made its hero, Prabhas, and director, Rajamouli, the biggest stars of Indian cinema.
