Ayanda Thabethe in Turmoil: Partner Wanted by Police, R19.5M Mansion on the Market

The luxurious double-volume house belonging to media personality Ayanda Thabethe and controversial businessman Peter Matsimbe in Bryanston, Johannesburg, has been listed for sale on Property 24 for R19.5 million. Described as a "spectacular modern dream home" in Bryanston East, Sandton, the property boasts an array of high-end features and amenities.

This opulent residence is outfitted with a guest cloakroom, an open-plan kitchen, a dining room, a formal lounge, and a fitted 12-seater bar. For outdoor entertainment, it offers an infinity pool, a jacuzzi, a pizza oven, and a wooden braai. Inside, the house showcases modern architectural designs with five bedrooms, five bathrooms, five carports, and two impressive glass garages. Architectural details include exposed bricks complemented by varied paint colors according to room themes, glass walls that maximize natural light, chandeliers dropping from high ceilings, and fixed beam lights in entertainment areas. Further enhancing its luxury, the house also features a state-of-the-art gym, a golf simulator, a fitted wine cellar, and a soundproof theatre.

The sale of the property comes months after Peter Matsimbe, Ayanda Thabethe’s partner and baby daddy, reportedly went on the run amid serious fraud allegations. Matsimbe is facing charges related to using fake documents to obtain loans from Standard Bank in 2019, through his company Matsimbe and Co., to purchase an impressive fleet of luxury vehicles from various dealerships. A warrant for his arrest was issued at the North Gauteng High Court in 2020, ordering his arrest for 30 days for contempt of court after he reportedly ignored a court judgment to return the cars.

According to reports, ten exotic cars—including a Toyota Hilux, Toyota Land Cruiser, Lexus SUV, Lexus LX, Mclaren MP4 coupé, BMW X5 SUV, Can-Am Maverick, Audi Q3, a Nissan Navara, and a Volvo mechanical horse—went missing while in his possession. Standard Bank only managed to recover two of these vehicles, the Mclaren and the Volvo, before Matsimbe disappeared. Police in Sandton are actively investigating the possibility that Matsimbe might have skipped the country, with reports suggesting he could be in Zambia, where he has allegedly been entering and exiting without detection.

The media has not yet established the precise reasons behind the couple’s decision to sell their Bryanston home, but the timing coincides with Matsimbe's ongoing legal woes. Ayanda Thabethe, who has been trending against the news surrounding Matsimbe, recently announced she is expecting her second child. She and Matsimbe previously issued a joint statement to rubbish infidelity claims that circulated shortly after the announcement of their first baby.
