Aussie Powerhouse: Sia Dominates Spotify as Australia's Top Music Export in 2025!

Sia Furler continues to reign as Australia's Queen of Spotify, marking a historic achievement by becoming the first artist to twice top the Global Impact List of Australian recording artists. Her collaboration with David Guetta, "Beautiful People," secured the No. 1 spot on the tally, which measures global streams of Australian acts excluding listenership within Australia. The Adelaide-born superstar had previously claimed the top position in 2023 with "Gimme Love," solidifying her unparalleled international streaming success.
Kevin Parker's acclaimed psychedelic pop project, Tame Impala, also demonstrated a formidable international presence, featuring seven songs from their fifth studio album, "Deadbeat," within the latest top 50. Four of these tracks notably appeared in the top 15, with "Dracula" reaching No. 2 and "Loser" charting at No. 8, underscoring the enduring global appeal of their distinctive sound.
The Kid LAROI, a Sydney-raised and Los Angeles-based artist, further highlighted Australia's significant international clout on Spotify. He contributed seven tracks to the list, showcasing his resonance with global audiences. Among his top 10 appearances were "I know love" with Tate McRae at No. 3 and "A COLD PLAY" at No. 9, cementing his status as a major global force in music streaming.
Beyond these leading artists, the top tier of Australian music exports on Spotify includes a diverse array of talent such as Dom Dolla, Dean Lewis, Rüfüs Du Sol, Royel Otis, and Lithe. These acts collectively underscore the widespread impact of Australian music on the global stage, reaching diverse fan bases across continents.
Leah Harris, Spotify AUNZ head of artist & label partnerships, emphasized the profound influence of Australian music worldwide. "It’s impossible not to feel the impact of Australian music wherever you go, whether that’s in the U.S., Europe, or emerging markets where local artists are finding passionate new fans," Harris commented. She added that "The data behind Spotify’s Australian Music Global Impact List shows just how borderless music has become, and how artists from Australia are connecting with listeners around the world in deeper and more meaningful ways than ever before."
The streaming giant reported that in 2025, the United States emerged as the top export market for Australian artists on Spotify, closely followed by the U.K. and Germany. Other significant markets within the top 10 for Aussie music included Brazil, Mexico, the Philippines, and France. Furthermore, the data highlighted South Africa (+99%), the Philippines (+64%), and Colombia (+53%) as the fastest-growing export markets over the past three years, indicating expanding global reach and listener engagement.
These achievements for Australian artists coincide with Spotify's strong financial performance. Just recently, Spotify announced that it surpassed its forecasts for subscriber and monthly active user growth in the fourth quarter of 2025. The platform recorded 290 million premium subscribers, a 10% increase year-on-year, while Monthly Active Users (MAUs) grew by 11% to reach 751 million. This robust growth in the streaming platform underscores the expanding opportunities for artists like those from Australia to connect with a vast and ever-growing global audience.
