Thirdway Alliance party leader Dr. Ekuru Aukot has faulted President William Ruto for remaining silent as his cabinet makes inflammatory remarks.

Aukot took particular issue with a recent statement by Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen, who told police officers that shoot-to-kill orders had been sanctioned by higher authority following the nationwide June 25 protests.

The remarks, according to Aukot, point directly to the president’s complicity.

“The CS is the face of this government, someone who is supposed to protect us. For him to confidently declare, ‘Na hii si yangu pekee yake, ni amri kutoka juu,’ and the president remains silent? That confirms the directive came from the top,” Aukot charged.

Speaking to Spice FM, Aukot accused the leaders of using their positions to pursue selfish interests while the country sinks deeper into despair.

He condemned attempts to limit public access to government institutions, calling it unconstitutional and a clear infringement of civil liberties.

“A police station is a public place. There is no offence in visiting it. Blocking citizens is a violation of their freedoms,” he said.

Aukot described the current state of Kenya’s politics as one dominated by “political conmanship,” where the same leaders continuously recycle themselves while failing to address the country’s deepening social and economic problems.

“For decades, we’ve discussed the same political cartels - Uhuru Kenyatta, Raila Odinga, William Ruto, Matiang’i and their surrogates. They have all been in power and failed. Why should we expect anything different?” he posed.

He accused the opposition of engaging in a dishonest game, claiming to fight the government while fraternizing with it behind closed doors.
