Angels Predicted to Trade Jorge Soler to AL Contender

Published 9 hours ago2 minute read

The Los Angeles Angels are sitting at 17-25, in yet another year of Mike Trout's career that appears to be headed for the trashbin.

As always, the decision for Arte Moreno's staff is whether to sell at the deadline, with Tyler Anderson, Kenley Jansen, Hector Neris, Logan O'Hoppe, Zach Neto and Taylor Ward potentially being floated as trade targets.

Of course, the trade deadline is still two and a half months away, and the Angels are a hot May or June away from going full throttle and buying towards the end of July.

MLB Network insider Jon Heyman, predicts a sell for the Halos, with one former Braves hero going to an American League contender.

Heyman predicted the Angels would ship Jorge Soler off to the Kansas City Royals come July 30th.

"The Los Angeles Angels aren't off to a great start, but Soler is a power hitter, one team that need power is the Kansas City Royals," Heyman said.

Soler played for Kansas City from 2017 to 2021 before being shipped off to Atlanta in a midseason trade for a relief pitcher who never made a big league appearance.

Soler was a massive part of the Braves' 2021 World Series championship, hitting an iconic go-ahead home run off of Luis Garcia in Game 6 that set the tone for the Braves' series clincher.

Soler has hit for a .229 batting average and .712 OPS, with six home runs and 16 RBIs this season.

If Soler were to be dealt back to his old team, he would likely slot in at designated hitter, with Vinnie Pasquantino shouldering most of the first base responsibility.
