Angel Lynn was abducted by her then-boyfriend, Chay Bowskill, on September 17, 2020, in Loughborough, Leicestershire. CCTV footage showed Bowskill aggressively picking her up and forcing her into a silver van.
While the vehicle was travelling at high speed on the A6 road, Angel either jumped or fell from it. She landed headfirst on the road and suffered devastating brain and spinal injuries, leaving her unable to walk, speak, or eat independently.
Doctors initially told her family that she might not survive the night. Angel was placed on life support, and over time, it became clear that the brain damage was severe. She remained in a minimally conscious state and required round-the-clock medical attention.
Since the incident, Angel Lynn has made remarkable progress despite her life-altering injuries. After spending months in the hospital and then moving to a neurological rehabilitation centre, she began to regain some motor function and communication abilities.
In 2024, her family reported that she had taken her first steps with the help of physiotherapists. She made an incredible milestone considering she had been left paralysed and unable to speak following the accident.
Angel also recently managed to speak her first word in three years, saying "mum". She can now write on an iPad, drink from a cup, and make a cup of tea with assistance. Additionally, she uses basic sign language and vocal noises to communicate with those around her.

Angel Lynn’s ex-boyfriend, Chay Bowskill, is currently serving a 12-year prison sentence in the UK. He was originally sentenced to seven and a half years in January 2022 after being convicted of kidnapping, coercive and controlling behaviour, and perverting the course of justice.
However, following a review by the Court of Appeal, his sentence was deemed too lenient and increased to 12 years in March 2022. During the trial, evidence revealed a history of controlling and abusive behaviour, including isolating Angel from her family and using intimidation.
His friend Rocco Sansome, who was driving the van at the time of the kidnapping, was also convicted and sentenced to 21 months for his role.
Lynn was an active, independent young woman with dreams of becoming a paramedic before the incident in 2020. Her family described her as a fun-loving, intelligent, and vivacious individual. She was studying health and social care at college in Leicester and held a part-time job.
Since the kidnapping, Angel's life has undergone a dramatic change. The traumatic fall from the moving van left her unable to walk, talk, or care for herself. Today, she lives in a rehabilitation centre and continues her long recovery process. Despite profound injuries, she has made meaningful progress.
