The Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has approved a series of major infrastructure and social reformation projects aimed at erosion control, flood mitigation, school rehabilitation, and road construction across the state.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, PhD, following the 11th ANSEC meeting held at the Light House, Awka, on June 16, 2025.

Among the most prominent approvals is a ₦3.5 billion erosion and flood control project in Umunze, alongside the construction of a 2.28 km road connecting several educational and residential areas. The contract was awarded to Saidi Nigeria Limited.

The Council also allocated ₦2.65 billion for the construction of 3.9 km of access roads within the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Uli Campus, awarded to Anyi Supreme Industries Ltd, and ₦2.1 billion for internal roads at the Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe, awarded to Mid-East Construction Company.

Other notable approvals include ₦528.6 million for the completion of a Country Club at the Ekwulobia Stadium Complex, awarded to Crystal Dove Construction Company Ltd; ₦97.3 million for the rehabilitation of Nya Ranch Road in Awka, to be handled by the Anambra Road Maintenance Agency (ARMA); ₦65.7 million for additional works at the Onitsha Specialist Hospital in Fegge, also awarded to Crystal Dove Construction Company Ltd; and ₦55.1 million for the installation of road safety devices such as signs, rumble strips, caution lights, and speed bumps across the state, awarded to Vadakris Ltd.

Furthermore, ₦718.6 million was approved for the renovation of dilapidated structures at the Nwafor Orizu College of Education. The contracts were distributed among Biggstruct Engineering Ltd, Zonel Projects Ltd, and Euro Energy Resources.

In addition to infrastructure development, the Council reaffirmed its commitment to the Anambra Rebirth Programme — a cultural reorientation initiative aimed at restoring Igbo values of integrity and hard work.

The programme will be launched under the Igbo proverb “Aka aja aja na-ebute onu mmanụ mmanụ,” meaning hard work brings success and happiness.

On transportation reforms, ANSEC resolved to retrain and re-educate drivers across the state. Drivers who commit serious traffic offences will be blacklisted, as part of broader efforts to improve road safety and reduce accidents.

These sweeping decisions reflect the Soludo administration’s continued efforts to revamp infrastructure, education, and social values in Anambra State.
