The Anambra State Government has completed the construction of a beltway with the fourth dual carriageway, thereby linking four major cities and allowing easy flow of traffic across the areas.

According to a press statement released on Tuesday, the state Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, said the state government also approved N31.6 billion for other dual carriageways, including the Ekwulobia to Nnobi Dualisation Road Project, as well as other projects.

Mefor said the contracts for the road projects were approved, and other key decisions were taken during the 14th Anambra State Executive Council meeting held at the “Light House,” Awka, on Monday.

He added that the state executive council also reviewed and approved the progress report for the 2024 Business Enabling Reforms Action Plan as part of the state’s action on the ‘Business Enabling Reform’ programme.

He said the state commits each year to implementing reforms aimed at enhancing the ease of doing business.

The statement read, “The Anambra State Executive Council joined the country in mourning the passing of former Head of State and President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away in a London hospital days ago, and observed a minute’s silence.

“The Council also awarded a fourth dual carriageway, namely, the Ekwulobia to Nnobi Dualisation Road Project, to complete the linking of the four major Anambra cities by dual carriageways, thus completing the Anambra beltway to permit easy flow of traffic around the state.

“ANSEC has reviewed and approved the progress report for the 2024 Business Enabling Reforms Action Plan. As part of the State Action on Business Enabling Reform Programme, the state commits each year to implementing reforms aimed at enhancing the ease of doing business.

The initiatives have resulted in improvements in land administration, infrastructure investment, business processes, investment promotion and protection, tax administration, and access to justice through small claims courts, among other areas.

“The ongoing Continuous Voter Registration was reviewed, and the hitches and solutions were noted. Public servants who have proof are to be allowed by their supervisors to be part of the CVR exercise.”
