is right around the corner, and there are bound to be gamers tempted to revisit Elden Ring before its release. However, with Elden Ring Nightreign launching in less than two weeks, there may not be time to experience Elden Ring fully. There's another option, though, and it could help players prepare for the upcoming multiplayer spin-off.
Jumping back into Elden Ring is a commitment. While it's considered one of the best modern games around, only getting a small taste of Elden Ring's story may not be the best way to get hyped up before Nightreign. However, thanks to the co-op options that Elden Ring already has, gamers can spend some time practicing with their friends ahead of Nightreign's launch.

Predicting Elden Ring Nightreign's Launch Day Meta
Although Elden Ring Nightreign’s player characters are all built to be useful, some are bound to be seen as stronger than the rest.
Nightreign is a bold move from developer FromSoftware. Until now, the company has made a name for itself by crafting challenging worlds that take a single-player-first approach. Of course, Elden Ring has some multiplayer features, but it's more commonly played solo. Co-op feels more like a fun addition than the definitive way to experience the game. With Nightreign, though, playing in teams of three is encouraged. Yes, players can play solo, but the game is being marketed as a multiplayer experience.
There are plenty of multiplayer games that players could use to scratch the co-op itch, but Elden Ring offers a test of teamwork within the very world in which Nightreign is set. Nightreign is bound to have its own unique flare, but its gameplay is also likely to be quite similar to the game that inspired it. One of the biggest differences between the two, as has been reported by playtesters, is that Nightreign's gameplay is a lot faster than Elden Ring's. However, this doesn't mean that Elden Ring co-op isn't a good way to warm up for the forthcoming title.
So far, several Nightreign characters have been revealed: Raider, Ironeye, Duchess, Recluse, Wylder, and Guardian.
This is a big risk for FromSoftware, as stepping away from its tried-and-true formulas could either open the door to something groundbreaking or completely miss the mark. The developer is leaning into the multiplayer space in more ways than one, too. The Duskbloods, another multiplayer FromSoftware game, was recently announced, showing that the developer isn't afraid to step outside its comfort zone.
Nightreign could prove to be May's biggest video game release, and it could set the stage for a very interesting summer. Leading up to its launch, FromSoftware has continued to reveal bits of information about what to expect, but there's no way to know for sure exactly what the game is like until fans get their hands on it. Nightreign could be a welcome extension of Elden Ring, and the two games having different gameplay speeds might also help keep the latter's co-op community intact.
Nightreign will be available for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
Elden Ring's status as one of the best releases of the 2020s gives Nightreign an incredibly high bar to reach. While snappier combat is necessary for an online multiplayer game, changes to base systems could also turn away fans of Elden Ring. On the other hand, such changes could leave Nightreign with the opportunity to attract a completely different audience. Regardless of how Nightreign fares, spending some quality time with Elden Ring's co-op could help fans prepare for a new chapter.
