Ryan Murphy's Love Story is underway.

The megaproducer revealed a first look at the stars of American Love Story, his upcoming FX limited series that will dramatize the high-profile courtship, marriage, and untimely death of John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette.

"We started shooting this week in New York City and can’t wait until you see the romantic and tragic love story between America’s prince, JFK Jr., and fashion icon Carolyn Bessette — out Valentine’s Day week of 2026," Murphy wrote in an Instagram post on Friday.

"I am thrilled to introduce you to Sarah Pidgeon as Carolyn and Paul Kelly as John F. Kennedy Jr.," he said, alongside a carousel of photos of the two stars in character. "Over a thousand actors auditioned for each of these roles, and we absolutely found the perfect choices."

Pidgeon starred as Leah on Prime Video's teen survival series The Wilds, while newcomer Kelly appeared in the Starz drama The Venery of Samantha Bird, which was canceled by Starz before airing.

First announced in 2021, American Love Story will follow the courtship and marriage of JFK Jr. and Besette. A plot description from FX described the show as follows: "What started out as a beautiful union for the young couple, widely regarded as American royalty, began to fray under the stress of the relentless microscope and navel gaze of tabloid media. The pressures of their careers and rumored family discord ended with their tragic deaths when his private plane crashed into the ocean on a hazy summer night off the coast of Massachusetts."

Love Story's cast also includes Naomi Watts as JFK Jr.'s mother, Jackie Onassis, and Grace Gummer as his older sister Caroline Kennedy.

This marks the fourth installment in the Story series — after American Horror Story, American Crime Story, and American Sports Story — Murphy has created for FX. Responding to a fan who asked if American Horror Story will return for season 13 in 2025, Murphy wrote, "Sarah Paulson and I are cooking up something cool!"

AHS fans should prepare to be patient, as Murphy currently has several other big projects on his plate. This fall, he'll launch All's Fair, a star-packed legal drama about a female-led law firm, and his comic-book adaptation The Beauty is set to begin production this year.
