Amazon Announces Denis Villeneuve as Next 'James Bond' Director - Cinelinx | Movies. Games. Geek Culture.
Earlier this week, Amazon MGM Studios announced their choice to direct the next James Bond film.
After announcing they had acquired the rights to James Bond, fans were curious to see what Amazon would do with their acquisition. We’ve gotten our first hints as it was announced earlier this week that acclaimed director Denis Villeneuve had been chosen to direct the next Bond film, while Tanya Lapointe will serve as executive producer.
Villeneuve had the following to say about getting to direct a James Bond film:
“Some of my earliest movie-going memories are connected to 007. I grew up watching James Bond films with my father, ever since Dr. No with Sean Connery. I’m a die-hard Bond fan. To me, he’s sacred territory. I intend to honor the tradition and open the path for many new missions to come. This is a massive responsibility, but also, incredibly exciting for me and a huge honor. Amy, David, and I are absolutely thrilled to bring him back to the screen. Thank you to Amazon MGM Studios for their trust.”
Villeneuve’s most recent films include Arrival (2016), Blade Runner 2049 (2017), Dune (2021), and Dune: Part Two (2024), with Dune 3 set to begin filming soon.
