His funeral ceremony was attended by a multitude of people, including family, politicians, friends and Kenyans from all divides.

Many came to pay their final respects and most of those who spoke at the ceremony condemned police brutality and called for justice.

The bereaved family shared their memories of Albert and how he was brutally killed.

The blogger’s beloved wife, Nevnina Onyango, took the chance to introduce her parents for the first time in public.

Her dad, who spoke with so much confidence, greeted the mourners and thanked them for showing up for his son-in-law and the entire family.

"May God bless you, and to the people of Kokwanyo let us maintain the relationship we have," he pleaded.

Nevnina's father encouraged her to stay in her marriage and be loyal to the family of Albert.

“I plead with you my daughter, do not leave Albert, do not abandon this family my daughter,” he said.

He further added the slain blogger was like a son to him and prayed for blessings upon her daughter and grandson George Miles Ojwang.

"These are the only people left, please support and stand by them," he added.

On her part, Albert's mother-in-law kept it short and called the public for prayers for her beloved daughter and her family.

The young widow thanked mourners who attended her husband’s burial and for the support the family has received since his demise.

She further revealed that Albert's birthday is on July 7 on the day Kenyans commemorate Saba Saba.

“You have stood with us through it all and it means a lot. Albert was a good man but he passed through the hands of police officers and died, I hope he will get justice, but we can only get justice if you help us. I want to urge you to come out in large numbers and celebrate Albert on July 7,” she said.

Albert's burial was deliberately slated for Friday, July 4, after a family decision which was made a few weeks after he died in police custody.

The family patriarch, had earlier announced that the burial would be delayed to allow the family a chance to get justice.

“I have not set the date for the sendoff of my son because I am waiting to ensure my son gets the justice that he deserves," he said, also citing the public interest the matter had garnered.

However, a week ago, the family finally decided on July 4, after the arrest of some of the police officers from the Central Police Station.

The Director of Public ProsecutionS recommended murder charges for eight officers led by the OCS Talaam, who was named as the prime suspect.

In the statement, it said:

"The DPP has approved murder charges against six individuals. The suspects include the following police officers: Samson Kiprotich Salaam, James Mukhana, and Peter Kimani."

Other suspects were John Ngige Gitau, Brian, Mwaniki Njue and Gin Ammotou Abwao.

In related news, reported that the late blogger’s uncle, from his mother’s side, warned Meshack Ojwang, his father, against neglecting his wife after the loss of their only child.

He reminded them of the 30 years they had been married, saying it would not be easy now that they had lost a child, but encouraged them to live peacefully.

He also urged Meshack to be a spiritual leader in his home and to turn to God during this difficult time.
