I feel like season 2 is in a perfect position to fix one of the core mistakes from the first season. Debuting in 2023, the show starring Rosario Dawson as the titular Ahsoka Tano saw the former Jedi reconnect with her lost path and apprentice Sabine Wren, while also working to prevent the return of Grand Admiral Thrawn. Although the show was mostly quite engaging, there was one element that somewhat dragged.

There's a lot to love about Ahsoka season 1. Not only does it serve as a continuation of the animated series Star Wars Rebels, but it's also a spin-off from The Mandalorian, offering an exciting look not only at the New Republic Era, but also a brand-new galaxy beyond the one we're familiar with.

On the one hand, Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren pursuing the villain Morgan Elsbeth and her Dark Jedi allies to another galaxy was incredibly exciting. Ahsoka season 1 sees them attempting to rescue Jedi Knight Ezra Bridger while preventing the return of Grand Admiral Thrawn, as both had been exiled to the extragalactic world of Peridea following the Battle of Lothal (Star Wars Rebels series finale) for nearly a decade.

Ahsoka Season 2 Finally Gives Us The Live-Action Rebels Reunion We've Always Wanted

Star Wars Celebration 2025 just confirmed we’ll be getting our long-awaited Ghost crew reunion in Ahsoka season 2, and we cannot wait.

. Back home in the known Star Wars galaxy, General Hera Syndulla was shown struggling to convince a panel of New Republic leaders, including Chancellor Mon Mothma, that the threat of Thrawn's return is real. In the absence of direct evidence, they largely remain unconvinced.

While Captain Carson Teva, C-3PO, and an off-screen Leia Organa do what they can to assist Hera, the overall narrative feels dull and uninteresting. After all, all the action shifts to another galaxy the moment Ahsoka and Sabine leave for Peridea.

In the absence of an officially publicly released Ahsoka season 2 trailer, Star Wars Celebration 2025 did provide guests with an exclusive look at concept art Dave Filoni had made into a teaser, patterned after a similar artwork teaser for The Empire Strikes Back from the late 70s.

The concept art trailer also revealed that Thrawn will indeed be making moves now that he's returned, along with his Nightsister allies. Also, Ezra Bridger will be working with the New Republic, having snuck aboard Thrawn's Star Destroyer before being reunited with Hera at the end of Ahsoka's season 1.

. There's bound to be far more action in the main galaxy going forward. After all, Thrawn's return will undoubtedly pick up the pace even if he chooses to remain in the shadows for a while longer, preparing to strike the New Republic with the forces of the Imperial Remnant and the dark magicks of the Nightsisters.

In Ahsoka season 2, I could easily see Hera and Ezra venturing to Dathomir to get concrete proof of Thrawn's return, hoping to finally motivate the New Republic to take action. The concept art teaser from Star Wars Celebration certainly suggests as much.
