Ademola Lookman's Transfer Rumors
)
Ademola Lookman, the star forward for Atalanta and reigning CAF Player of the Year, is at the center of intense transfer speculation, with Europe's top clubs reportedly keen on acquiring his services this summer. Despite strong interest from several prominent teams, Atalanta has issued a firm warning, insisting they will not sell the 27-year-old Nigerian winger for less than their valuation, which ranges between €50 million and €60 million.

Lookman's impressive performance last season, where he scored 20 goals across all competitions and notably netted a sensational hat-trick in the 2024 Europa League final to secure Atalanta's first-ever European trophy, has significantly elevated his market value. With just 12 months remaining on his current contract, Atalanta faces a strategic decision: either cash in on their prized asset or risk losing him for a reduced fee in the future. Reports indicate that Lookman is eager to leave the club, with a return to the Premier League being an ideal destination for the player who has developed into one of Europe's most feared attackers since his move to Italy.
Among the clubs vying for Lookman's signature, Arsenal has reportedly initiated talks with the player's representatives, although manager Mikel Arteta is said to be hesitant about the current asking price. Napoli also maintains a strong interest, with Italian football figures publicly urging the club to sign Lookman as a potential replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. West Ham United has emerged as another serious suitor, eyeing Lookman as a contingency plan should Mohammed Kudus depart for Tottenham Hotspur.

The Hammers view Lookman's versatility and attacking output as an ideal match, with a valuation around €60 million (£50 million), a fee they could potentially cover if Kudus's proposed £62.5 million switch materializes. Lookman himself is reportedly keen on a return to London, his hometown, although Atalanta prefers to sell to a club of their choosing rather than strictly adhering to the player's wishes.
La Liga giants Atletico Madrid have also entered the race, looking to leverage their existing relationship with Atalanta, having recently negotiated for Matteo Ruggeri. However, Atletico Madrid is reportedly unwilling to meet Atalanta's €40-50 million asking price for Lookman, as a significant portion of their budget is earmarked for Tottenham's Christian Romero.
Barcelona, whose initial interest had cooled, has seen Lookman's name resurface in their discussions following disappointment regarding other transfer targets like Nico Williams. Juventus remains keen on the Nigerian international as well. Lookman's versatility, capable of playing on either wing or through the middle, is a significant asset that appeals to prospective buyers. While his desire to leave remains strong, if a suitable deal cannot be finalized, he is prepared to see out the final year of his contract in Bergamo.
