Adani Power completes acquisition of 600 MW Vidarbha Power

Adani Power successfully acquired Vidarbha Industries Power Ltd. (VIPL) for ₹4,000 crore, adding a 2x300 MW power plant to its portfolio. The acquisition, approved by NCLT Mumbai and implemented on July 7, 2025, increases Adani Power's operating capacity to 18,150 MW. The company aims to reach 30,670 MW by FY 2029-30, supporting India's 'Electricity for All' vision.

on Tuesday announced a successful acquisition and resolution plan implementation of Vidarbha Industries Power Ltd. (VIPL) for an aggregate consideration of Rs 4,000 crore.VIPL has become a wholly owned subsidiary of the company effective July 07, 2025 after Adani acquired 100% shareholding of the company.

VIPL is a 2x300 MW domestic coal-fired power plant located in Butibori, Nagpur district, Maharashtra. The company was undergoing Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC).

Further, the Mumbai Bench of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) approved Adani Power’s resolution plan on June 18, 2025, which was successfully implemented on July 7, 2025.

With this acquisition, Adani Power has expanded its total operating capacity to 18,150 MW. The company plans to achieve 30,670 MW capacity by FY 2029–30.
