In Kisumu, scenes of tears, disbelief, and anguish unfolded as Odinga made his final lap, with thousands flooding the streets, holding vigils, and participating in night processions. The sorrow was palpable, with businesses shutting doors and matatu operators suspending services as a symbolic show of respect. In strongholds like Kondele, Nyalenda, Obunga, Dunga, Kisian, and Mamboleo, residents camped overnight, lighting candles and spelling out his name, while artists composed tribute songs. Even vendors capitalized on the moment, selling portraits and Kenyan flags, showcasing the deep emotional connection many had with "Baba."
