The Police in Ekiti State have arraigned two men, Adeyemi Adetokunbo, 53, and Afe Taiwo, 48, at the Chief Magistrate court sitting in Ado-Ekiti over alleged unlawful assault.
The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendants on or about June 6 at Ado-Ekiti Magisterial district did conspire to commit a felony with assault.
Inspector Oriyomi said on the same date and place, the defendants did unlawfully assault Olugbade Ayo Edward by beating him mercilessly.
The prosecutor pointed out that the offence committed is punishable under Section 421, 185 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State 2021.
Counsel to the defendants, Barrister J. J. Tijani, urged the court to grant bail to his clients, saying they will not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Abayomi Adeosun, granted bail of N20,000 with one surety each in like sum.
The case was adjourned till August 5 for hearing.
