Harry Potter's Emma Watson, Zoe Wanamaker banned from driving for speeding - TheCable Lifestyle
Watson, 35, was caught driving her blue Audi at 38 miles per hour in a 30-mph zone in Oxford, England, on the evening of July 31, 2024.
The actress, who is currently pursuing a master’s degree in creative writing at the University of Oxford, was ordered to pay a total of £1,044 by the high Wycombe magistrates’ court on Wednesday after pleading guilty.
During the proceedings, the court heard that the actress already had nine penalty points on her driving licence before her latest offence.
A driver can be banned, typically for a six-month period, if they accumulate 12 or more penalty points on their licence within three years.
Watson did not appear in court but was represented by her lawyer Mark Haslam, who confirmed her willingness and ability to pay the fine.
“She is in a position to pay the fine,” Haslam told the court.
Wanamaker, 76, on the other hand, was caught speeding on the M4 in Newbury, Berkshire, on August 7, 2024. The 76-year-old film star was driving her blue Volvo at 46mph in a 40mph zone.
Like Watson, she already had nine points on her licence before the offence.
She was also fined £1,044 and banned for six months.
Wanamaker’s lawyer Duncan Jones said she was not asking for “special treatment” and accepted the fine.
