T'puram: A 17-year-old student, Sooraj, drowned while while bathing with friends at the Edathara temple pond in Uliyazhathura on Thursday evening.He slipped into the water while taking bath on the pond bank. Even before others could rescue him, Sooraj, who did not know swimming, sank in the pond. Soon, police and fire force were alerted and rescue efforts began.

The boy was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead. The body was sent to relatives after postmortem at the MCH and the funeral was held at his house on Friday. Kazhakkoottam police have registered a case. TNN
