Brittany Combs is opening about one thing that fans seem to be fascinated with: her headbands.
The star— who is the sister-in-law of and — recently revealed the reason she is always filmed and photographed wearing a wide headband. Her ever-present headbands have become a frequent topic discussed by fans on social media, so earlier this week, Brittany left some comments on the @AccordingtoAmber1 Instagram page to discuss them.
Brittany told fans that her headbands have a purpose and are not just a fashion accessory.
“I have thin hair on top and I wear the headband to cover it,” Brittany wrote in the comment section of a post in which fans were talking about her style and recent weight loss. “I feel very self-conscious about it.”
Brittany– who is rarely if ever featured on the show without some sort of head covering— pointed out that the show’s fans who criticize her headbands would likely ridicule her over how her hair looks if she showed it on TV.
“If I didn’t wear something people would be talking about how bad I look so either way someone is gonna talk about me. So I’m gonna keep wearing them because I like them and they make me feel more comfortable,” Brittany wrote.
During an appearance on the LOLCow Live YouTube show in March, Brittany’s sister-in-law Tammywas asked why Brittany always wears a headband or bandana.
“She has– it’s a condition. I used to have it, too,” Tammy replied. “With the hair, it kind of recedes early. It’s a little bit of an insecurity for her, so we don’t really talk about her or try to point it out.”

Tammy also revealed that Brittany’s religious beliefs play a part in how she looks.
“It’s also part of her religion,” Tammy continued. “She’s Pentecostal.”
Although Brittany always wears her hair tied up on the show, her tresses are actually incredibly long. Apostolic Pentecostal women do not cut or dye their hair, due to the way they interpret 1 Corinthians 11:3-16 in the Bible, which says that long hair is a glory to a woman, and that it is a shame for a woman to be “shorn.” They also refrain from wearing makeup or immodest clothing.
Brittany has discussed this a few times on the show, including in a bonus scene from Season 4 when tries to persuade Brittany to let her put makeup on her and give her a makeover.
“We don’t cut our hair because we believe it’s our glory,” Brittany explained. “God gives it to us.”
Brittany stated that she had never cut her hair before, not even a trim. As a result, her hair is now past her waist.
