Zambia’s Socialist Party (SP) is currently facing a significant shake-up within its youth leadership, marked by a wave of sudden resignations. Among the prominent figures stepping down is Richard Bravo Mulenga, who had been newly appointed as National Youth Secretary. Notably, Mulenga resigned from this key position less than 24 hours after his appointment. Prior to this, he had served as the National Youth Deputy Secretary for two years. His resignation encompasses both his role and his membership in the Socialist Party.

The resignations extend beyond Mulenga. Francis Shula, who held the position of National Youth Vice Chairperson for Politics and was also a member of the Central Committee, has also stepped down with immediate effect, relinquishing his party membership. Additionally, National Youth Treasurer Ngambo Queen Machayi and National Youth Vice Mobilisation Coordinator Martha Shula have vacated their respective positions and formally withdrawn their membership from the Socialist Party.

All the departing officials conveyed their gratitude for the opportunity to have served at the national level within the party. They also extended their best wishes to the Socialist Party for its future endeavors.
