Yari Shakes Up 2027: Tinubu's Path to Re-election Clear Without Campaign

Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, the Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's performance and achievements provide a strong and sufficient foundation for the party's campaign leading up to the 2027 general elections. This assertion was made during a significant courtesy visit by the APC Presidential Campaign Council to the palace of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, a key event within the council’s broader political engagements in Oyo State.

Yari emphasized that given President Tinubu's level of performance and his transformational leadership, the President would, in an ideal scenario, not even need to contest for another term, were it not for the fundamental requirement of periodic elections in a democratic system. He articulated the APC's unwavering confidence in Tinubu’s leadership, extensive experience, and demonstrated capacity to effectively steer the affairs of the nation. However, Yari cautioned that despite controlling the Federal Government, the ruling party would conscientiously avoid taking the Nigerian populace for granted.

Outlining the party's strategic approach, Yari confirmed that the campaign council is committed to adhering strictly to the democratic process. This involves directly taking its message to the voters, meticulously explaining the administration's achievements since assuming office, and clearly presenting its comprehensive plans for the future development of the country. He underscored that the APC intends to actively seek the support of the electorate through the compelling strength of its campaign message, rather than merely relying on the inherent advantage of incumbency or its existing political power base.

The APC campaign chief also extended his acknowledgement and appreciation to Senator Sharafadeen Alli, who serves as the party’s governorship candidate in Oyo State, for his pivotal role in facilitating the delegation’s important visit to the Olubadan’s palace. In response to the delegation’s visit and their message, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, offered a reassuring promise that Oyo State would deliver a massive number of votes for President Tinubu in the forthcoming 2027 presidential election. The revered monarch also expressed his profound delight and satisfaction at the high calibre of the delegation that visited him, noting that it comprised distinguished personalities including former governors, currently serving senators, and other prominent chieftains within the APC party structure.

The esteemed members of the delegation included several notable figures: former Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Senator Rochas Okorocha; former Borno State Governor and Senator, Ali Modu Sheriff; Senator Gbenga Daniel; former Taraba State Governor, Jolly Nyame; former Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko; and former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yusuf Suleiman Wase. The impressive list continued with former APC Deputy National Chairman, Chief Emma Eneukwu; Senator Yunus Akintunde, who chairs the Senate Committee on South West Development; and Hon. AbdulMalik Zannah, representing the Bungudu/Maru Federal Constituency of Zamfara State in the House of Representatives. Additional prominent individuals on the delegation included former public office holder, Hon. Gololo; former Zamfara State APC Chairman, Hon. Lawal M. Liman; Engr. Magaji Dau; and Hon. Sunday Akin Dare, who currently serves as the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications.
