Wode Maya Unveils The Truth: IShowSpeed's Ghana Tour Was A Rollercoaster!

Ghanaian YouTuber and content creator Wode Maya revealed why popular American streamer IShowSpeed was unable to tour multiple regions in Ghana during his recent visit.
Speaking on Personality Profile on Joy FM with Lexis Bill on Thursday, January 29, Wode Maya explained that strict live-streaming time limits were the main obstacle.
Each segment was limited to just 15 minutes within a five-hour total stream, making long-distance travel to destinations like Cape Coast, the Volta Region, or northern Ghana logistically impossible. “We couldn’t tour some places because the streaming was just 15 minutes. You can’t go anywhere beyond that time,” he noted.
Focus on Akropong Showcases Ghanaian Culture
Given the tight schedule, the team prioritized nearby attractions in Akropong in the Eastern Region.
Wode Maya described this segment as the highlight of the trip, allowing them to showcase Ghana’s cultural richness, identity, and natural beauty.
Key experiences included a waterfall visit where IShowSpeed enjoyed a massage, interactions with traditional leaders, and a culturally significant moment when he was given a Ghanaian name by the chief of Akropong.
Wode Maya emphasized the pride in promoting Ghanaian heritage, saying, “For me, Akropong made me so proud because it was a bit of selling everything about who we are as Ghanaians.”
Global Impact and Renewed Interest in Ghana
Despite the limitations, IShowSpeed’s tour attracted millions of viewers worldwide, generating significant international attention for Ghana’s tourism and creative industries.
The livestream highlighted the country’s vibrant culture and the potential for young leaders to drive local development, leaving both domestic and international audiences inspired.
Wode Maya praised the coordination with Akropong’s traditional authorities, noting the positive reception and impact on global audiences.
