San Antonio Spurs' star player and reigning NBA Defensive Player of the Year, Victor Wembanyama, will not face any additional disciplinary action and is cleared to play in Game 5 against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

This decision follows his ejection from Sunday night's Game 4 loss, where he was assessed a flagrant foul 2.

The incident in question occurred when Wembanyama was initially whistled for an offensive foul after making contact with Minnesota's Naz Reid.

Reid, along with his Timberwolves teammate Jaden McDaniels, had converged on the 7-foot-4 Wembanyama outside the paint immediately after he rebounded a missed 3-pointer by the Spurs.

A subsequent video review of the play confirmed that Wembanyama's elbow struck Reid on the right side of his jaw and neck area, and this contact caused Reid to spin and fall to the floor.

Following the review, referee Zach Zarba announced that the initial call was upgraded to a flagrant foul 2, citing excessive contact above the neck.

Such a penalty automatically results in an ejection from the game. Wembanyama, who was on the bench when the ruling was made, reportedly expressed confusion, appearing to ask teammate Harrison Barnes, "What does that mean?"

Wembanyama's ejection with 8:39 remaining in the second quarter was a notable event.

According to research from ESPN, this marks the earliest an All-Star player has been ejected from a playoff game in the play-by-play era, a record-keeping period that dates back to the 1997-98 season.

Historically, teams have struggled significantly in such scenarios, with a combined record of 1-8 when an All-Star is ejected from a playoff game before the fourth quarter.

Despite the early departure, the Western Conference semifinals series remains intensely competitive, currently tied at 2-2 following Minnesota's 114-109 victory at home on Sunday.

With no further discipline, Wembanyama's presence will be crucial for the Spurs as they aim to gain an advantage in the pivotal Game 5.
