Urgent Safety Alert: Primark Recalls 'Exploding' Toy Over Injury Fears

Major high street retailers, Primark and TK Maxx, have issued urgent product recalls for children's items due to significant safety concerns, advising parents to immediately cease use and return the affected products. These warnings underscore the critical importance of product safety standards and consumer vigilance.
Primark has recalled its Water Balloon Pump toy, specifically the pink and blue models, over fears of them exploding and causing injury. The retailer announced on September 17, following sales between January and September 2023, that the product fails to meet its usual high safety standards. A manufacturing fault means that when the pump is used, the internal filling pressure can increase beyond safe limits, potentially causing the device to rupture. This poses a direct risk of physical injury to children or other users. Primark has urged customers to stop using the toy immediately and return it to any Primark store, emphasizing that no proof of purchase is required for a full refund. The Kimball product number associated with the recalled item is 5252801. For further information, customers can contact Primark via [email protected].
In a separate safety alert, TK Maxx and Homesense have urgently recalled a range of Children's Swim Vests, citing a potential risk of drowning. These swim vests, sold between April and August, were available in various designs featuring creatures such as whales, dinosaurs, sharks, starfish, unicorns, crabs, fish, juice floats, and seahorses. The retailer has instructed shoppers to cease using the item immediately and return it to any TK Maxx or Homesense store for a full replacement or refund. This recall gained significant attention after a concerned parent shared the warning on the Facebook group 'Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK', prompting many others to check their purchases. The affected product codes, found on price tickets and receipts, include 819852, 819854, 819856, 819864, 819866, 819868, 819870, 819884, 819886, 819888, 819904, 819906, 819908, 819910, 819911, 819912, 819914. Customers in the UK needing assistance can contact TK Maxx customer service on 01923 473561 or [email protected], while Irish customers should call 01 2476126 using the same email address.
These recent recalls highlight the ongoing commitment of retailers to consumer safety and the importance of public awareness regarding potential hazards in children's products. Parents are strongly advised to check their purchased items against these recall notices to ensure the safety of their children.
