Uganda Extends Red Carpet to Mauritian Travel Delegation for Pivotal Familiarisation Safari
The Uganda High Commission in Dar es Salaam, in close collaboration with the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), recently extended a warm welcome to a delegation of esteemed tour companies and travel trade partners hailing from Mauritius. This visit marks the beginning of a meticulously planned, week-long familiarisation safari designed to immerse the visitors in Uganda's most captivating tourism attractions. The team was officially received by Laura Kahuga, the Mission's First Secretary and Accounting Officer, who underscored Uganda's esteemed position as a premier global destination for adventure, wildlife, and cultural tourism.
Ms. Kahuga expressed her profound delight, stating, "We are delighted to welcome you to Uganda, the Pearl of Africa. Please feel at home as you embark on this exciting journey, exploring our remarkable tourism sites and experiencing the warmth, culture, and hospitality that define Uganda." Upon their arrival in Kampala, the delegation was treated to an enchanting Cultural Night hosted at the renowned Ndere Cultural Centre. Here, they experienced a vibrant showcase of traditional Ugandan music, captivating dance performances, and ancient storytelling. The culinary experience was equally rich, with guests savoring popular Ugandan delicacies such as matooke, nakati, and kalo, dishes that Ms. Kahuga fondly referred to as "the true heartbeat of Uganda."
The comprehensive itinerary for the week-long tour is packed with diverse and thrilling activities. Highlights include an unforgettable rhino tracking experience at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, a majestic visit to the powerful Murchison Falls, and an exhilarating chimpanzee trekking adventure within the lush confines of Kibale National Park. The safari will culminate in the breathtaking Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, where the delegation will undertake the highly anticipated mountain gorilla trekking experience, offering a unique encounter with these magnificent primates.
According to the Uganda Tourism Board, this strategic initiative aims to significantly bolster Uganda's visibility and enhance its competitiveness within the Southern African tourism market. By fostering strong partnerships with Mauritian travel operators, UTB intends to firmly establish Uganda as a leading choice for discerning travelers seeking unparalleled wildlife encounters, thrilling adventures, and authentic cultural immersion. The Uganda High Commission further emphasized that this familiarisation safari is an integral component of its broader, ongoing efforts to escalate international tourist arrivals and globally champion the country's rich natural and cultural heritage.
