Oba Moses Oyinloye Iwedunmoye I, the esteemed Onigbesi of Igbesi Land, has tragically passed away just days after regaining his freedom from kidnappers in the Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The monarch's demise marks a somber end to a harrowing ordeal that began on August 22, when armed assailants launched an invasion on the Igbesi community, abducting him from his palace.

Following an intense five-day period of captivity, Oba Iwedunmoye I was successfully liberated through a meticulously executed security operation conducted in the Elerin/Ijomu-Oro axis of the state.

His release brought a wave of relief to his family and community, who had been anxiously awaiting his safe return.

However, the joy was short-lived, as family sources confirmed that the monarch succumbed to a brief illness in the early hours of Saturday, September 12.

He was reportedly rushed to the hospital after his health deteriorated, but unfortunately, he died shortly thereafter.

The news of his passing has plunged Igbesi Land and wider Kwara State into mourning, as the community grieves the loss of their leader under such poignant circumstances.
