Tesla Shocks Market: 2027 Model Y Sees Price Hike, Base Trims Steady

Tesla has announced a price adjustment for its 2027 Model Y lineup, marking the first such change in two years for the electric SUV.
While the good news for entry-level buyers is that the base models will retain their current pricing, several other trims will see increases of up to $1,000 for U.S. customers.
According to reports, including one from Tesla investor Sawyer Merritt on X, the Model Y Premiumtrims, which had maintained consistent pricing since 2025, are now more expensive.
The Model Y Premium RWD, previously priced at $46,630, and the AWD version, formerly $50,630, will both increase by $1,000, bringing their new prices to $47,630 and $51,630 respectively.
Enthusiasts seeking enhanced performance will also find a slight bump, as the Performance trim will now start at $59,630, reflecting a $500 increase.
Despite these changes, prospective buyers can still acquire an American-built electric SUV at the entry level with the Model Y RWD for $41,630 or the AWD version for $43,630.
These trims, once known as Standard, are carrying over their 2026 model year pricing unchanged.
Other optional features and services maintain their current costs: FSD (Supervised) remains $99 per month, including a 30-day free trial, and the Tow Package is still priced at $1,000.
Buyers should also note the reintroduction of a non-refundable $250 order fee for the 2027 Model Y.
Beyond the pricing adjustments, the 2027 Model Y will largely remain consistent with its predecessor.
Specifications, range capabilities, and the convenience of receiving regular over-the-air updates will all carry over unchanged from previous models.
This ensures that while some prices have shifted, the core user experience and technological offerings of the Model Y will continue to be reliable.
