Taste Adventure: Meet the Makers 2025 Festival to Ignite NSW South Coast Food Scene

The highly anticipated 'Meet the Makers' event is set to return to New South Wales for its second iteration, offering a unique opportunity to connect with talented artisans, foragers, farmers, and creatives from the region. The event organizers have unveiled a comprehensive program featuring 35 distinct activities, spanning weekends from Saturday, September 6, to Sunday, September 28. Attendees will be spoiled for choice with a diverse array of experiences, from culinary delights and beverage tastings to hands-on arts and crafts workshops.
The festivities will commence with a grand long lunch at Barn on the Ridge on the opening Saturday, September 6. This inaugural event, running from 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM, will bring together ten local makers who will host guests with a delightful menu including canapés, main courses, and a decadent dessert bar. The atmosphere will be further enhanced by wine tastings, live music, and a special appearance by a resident artist, setting a vibrant tone for the month-long celebration.
Throughout September, the program offers an impressive variety of experiences. Wine enthusiasts can explore Cupitt's Estate for a scenic walking tour followed by a wine tasting, or participate in a signature wine blending workshop. Nature lovers can enjoy morning bushwalks guided by a local forager, discovering the natural bounty of the South Coast. For those interested in beverages, Bannisters will host showcases of local drinks by the pool, while history buffs can indulge in afternoon tea tours of the historic Airlie House.
The 'Meet the Makers' program also highlights the region's artistic and culinary prowess with several unmissable events. These include an exhibition launch at Our Gallery Milton, a special four-course dinner collaborative event between Dangerous Ales and the Milton Hotel, and hands-on creative workshops such as a still life ceramics session and candle crafting at Black Wolf Candles. Culinary skills can be honed at a croissant masterclass led by renowned chef Alex Pautonnier.
As the event nears its conclusion on Saturday, September 27, two major highlights await: a captivating fire feast at Milk Haus, featuring live music and a four-course banquet prepared over open-air fires, and the South Coast Craft Beer Festival at Milton Showground, where attendees can savor refreshing local brews. Nat Taylor, co-owner and chef at Milk Haus, eloquently describes the event as more than just a food festival. She emphasizes it as an invitation to forge connections with individuals who are instrumental in shaping the South Coast's culinary and creative identity, celebrating 'stories, skills, flavours, and the shared joy of creating something beautiful,' whether it be a loaf of sourdough, a handcrafted ceramic mug, or simply enjoying a perfect countryside long lunch with friends. Tickets for the entire program are currently available on the 'Meet the Makers' website, though some popular events have already sold out, advising prompt booking to secure a spot.
